Curtin University of Technology is a multi-campus university founded as the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) in 1967. Curtin gained university status in 1987. Curtin is grouped into five teaching Divisions: Curtin Business School (CBS); Engineering and Science; Health Sciences; Humanities; and Resources and Environment. Campuses at Northam (Muresk Institute of Agriculture) and Kalgoorlie (Western Australian School of Mines, Vocational Training and Education Centre, Esperance and soon at Margaret River, complement the main campus at Bentley in metropolitan Perth.
An exciting addition in 1999 was the development of Curtin's first offshore campus in Miri, Sarawak (Curtin Sarawak). These six major units are further divided into Schools, Departments and Centres, which are the basic operational units of the University. Teaching and research activities are supported by the Vice-Chancellory.

Location
Curtin University of Technology's main campus is located in Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. The campus is approximately 10 kilometres south east of the city central business district and is located close to shops, banking facilities and travel services and is well serviced by public transport. There is comfortable housing on-campus and off-campus accommodation is plentiful in nearby suburbs.
Public Transport
The Bentley campus has a new bus terminal and is serviced frequently by buses to and from Perth City. The Circle route which runs between universities, train stations and shopping centres, has services every 15 minutes.

Onsite parking is available for staff for a nominal fee.
Housing
Curtin provides modern, clean and safe accommodation on campus for up to 1500 students, contained in six complexes of single-storey to three-storey cottage style accommodation. All units are close to public transport and within walking distance of the Karawara shopping complex, which includes a supermarket, restaurants, fast food outlets and specialty shops. The complexes include recreation and sporting facilities, common rooms, barbeques and well equipped kitchens. Many units have individual phone and data connections.
